A New View - Scarborough Photo Contest

The City and Scarborough Arts are calling upon new and experienced photographers to take their best photos of people, places and things in Scarborough. The photo contest will run from August 17 to September 30. To enter the contest, participants are invited to post photos on Instagram and Facebook with hashtag #scarboroughphoto.

Winners will be selected by a jury led by Toronto’s Photo Laureate Michéle Pearson Clarke. Prizes will be awarded in three categories – people, places and things. Prize announcements will be shared on Scarborough Arts’ Facebook and Instagram channels. Full contest details are available at

In November 2019, criticism was raised when it was discovered a photo of a partial wall collapse was curated to the Google search page for Scarborough. Amid public outcry, Google removed the image leaving only the map.

On November 26, 2019, Toronto City Council called for the City of Toronto’s Photo Laureate to commission a public photographic project or contest to highlight the best of Scarborough.
