Attention: Wexford Heights BIA Property Owners/ Tenants

Over the last few months, concerns regarding property maintenance have been brought to the attention of the Board of Management for the Wexford Heights Business Improvement Area.

Specifically the focus has been on over grown grass and weeds along the business properties and adjacent lands and boulevards of Lawrence Avenue East from Victoria Park to Birchmount Road.

This lack of regular upkeep deters from the overall goals of the WHBIA, specifically the streetscape beautification project. The project strives to achieve a more hospitable and inviting environment to maximize the BIA’s economic impact.

This past month, the BIA has taken the initiative to hire an independent contractor to trim and remove the overgrowth of weeds along the sidewalks and boulevard.

However it must be emphasized that this is a onetime measure. The responsibility to trim and maintain the weeds right to the curb on the street rests with the property owners. This is clearly outlined in the Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 489. Landlords, tenants and maintenance contractors must include these areas in their scope of work. If requested, Wexford Heights BIA can provide you with landscape contractor contacts.

Please visit our website and see updates in the members’ area and public sections. We are striving to provide more information to all our members on an ongoing basis. Also, should you have information to contribute that is relevant, we would like to post it to share with all our members.

Thank you for your ongoing interest in the Wexford Heights BIA.
